Jim Dreyfous co-founded UV Partners in 1986 and has been a Managing Director since its formation. Mr. Dreyfous personifies the UV Partners culture and approach; he is active with business founders and directors, experienced in building and developing management teams, and adept at accessing strategic relationships to help companies to attract management expertise and capital at every stage of a company's growth. He was active in the investment and/or served as a board member of Anesta (IPO), CardioPulmonics (IPO), Iomed (IPO), Sonus (IPO), Sonic Innovations (IPO), Clyde Digital (acquired by Axent), VaporFab (acquired by INCO), and Knowlix (acquired by Peregrine Systems).

Mr. Dreyfous' earlier career experience was in commercial banking, private investments, and small business management. He was an officer of Citicorp and Bankers Trust, and was a principal for a privately-held oil and gas production and distribution company. Mr. Dreyfous has served on the boards of a number of UV III portfolio companies (Carefx, Skylight Systems, Venafi) and philanthropic boards (including The Nature Conservancy of Utah and Volunteers of America of Utah), in addition to being active in the civic community. He holds a B.A. in Economics from Middlebury College.

Mr. Dreyfous was recently appointed to the Utah Science, Technology and Research (USTAR) Governing Authority Board by the governor and state legislature. In addition, he is Chairman of the University of Utah Technology Commercialization Advisory Board Subcommittee and serves on the Board of Directors of the Lassonde New Venture Development Center at the University of Utah.
