Allan Wolfe has been with UV Partners since 1989. In 1983 he co-founded Hambrecht & Quist's Life Science Ventures, one of the first venture capital funds focused exclusively on medicine and biotechnology. Earlier, Dr. Wolfe was an operating manager in start-up and mature medical companies, including American Hospital Supply Corporation's principal manufacturing division, where his responsibilities encompassed strategic and operating planning, research and development, manufacturing engineering, and international marketing.
Dr. Wolfe holds a B.A. in American Civilization from Cornell University and an M.D. from New York University School of Medicine. His postgraduate training included service as an intern, resident, and Chief Resident in medicine and a research fellowship in cardiology and rheumatic diseases. Thereafter, Dr. Wolfe managed drug and device development for treatment of cardiac emergencies for Survival Technology, while contemporaneously serving as the principal investigator for a National Heart and Lung Institute research program for prevention of sudden death from acute myocardial infarction.
Dr. Wolfe has extensive experience as a Director of early stage companies, including Versaflex (acquired), Salutar (acquired), Genicon Sciences, Sonic Innovations (IPO), and Axent (IPO). He has served on the boards of Calypso Medical Technologies, NeoGuide Systems, and Artielle ImmunoTherapeutics. Dr. Wolfe is a member of the board of directors of the Southern California Biomedical Council.
